- porcine preacher, he gained national notoriety as an adviser to
- Tawana Brawley, the black teenager who claimed that a gang of
- white males abducted and raped her in November 1987. A grand
- jury investigation found that Brawley's allegations were a
- hoax. Sharpton is charged with stealing more than $250,000 from
- the National Youth Movement, an organization he founded 18 years
- ago.
